  • Lisa Cameron

    President

    Professor Lisa Cameron is the James Riady Chair of Asian Economics at the University of Melbourne. She has a PhD in economics from Princeton University, is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Social Sciences, the International Economic Association, a J-PAL (MIT Poverty Action Lab) affiliate and a Distinguished Fellow of the Economic Society of Australia. Her research has been widely published, including in Science and the Quarterly Journal of Economics, and featured in the New York Times and The Economist.

  • Shyamal Chowdhury

    Secretary

    Shyamal Chowdhury is Professor of Economics at University of Sydney and a Research Fellow at IZA, Bonn. His research primarily delves into the economics of seasonal migration, the development of socio-emotional skills, and technology adoption. His work combines original data collection, lab-in-field experiments, and randomised controlled trials. He has conducted research projects in Indonesia, Kenya, Uganda, and Nepal, and he has several completed and ongoing projects in Bangladesh. His research has been widely published, including in Econometrica, and the Journal of Political Economy.

  • Astghik Mavisakalyan

    Public Officer

    Astghik Mavisakalyan is a Professor of Economics at the Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre at Curtin University. She is also a Chief Investigator of the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the Elimination of Violence against Women (CEVAW) .  Astghik’s research focuses on employment, education, health, wellbeing and preference formation, seeking to understand the role of the family, institutions, culture and external shocks in these areas. She is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Population Economics and the Australian Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics and a member of the editorial board of the Economic and Labour Relations Review.
